Howard Consulting formerly known as Howard Humphreys is one among of Tanzanian’s leading engineering consultancies and has been carrying out the project management, design and construction supervision of buildings, roads and water supply and sewerage projects,Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering in Tanzania since 1931. To date Howard Consulting and through its predecessor Howard Humphreys has carried out over 60 major building projects, 17 major water supply projects and 27 major road projects in Tanzania.
WHO WE ARE.....
Howard Consulting Limited was established in December 2018 after employees of the former Howard Humphreys Limited decided to set up a local entity. Howard Consulting Ltd is therefore owned 100% by Tanzanian employees. All staff of the former employer are now working and shareholders of the company.Through experience of the staff, HCL has been carrying out the project management, design and construction supervision of buildings, roads and water supply and sewerage projects in Tanzania.
Roads and Transportation Engineering
Howard Consulting is now fully focused on Airports, Harbors, Roads & general Transportation Engineering.The company has been pursuing roads projects in the East African region including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
Water and Sanitation Engineering
Howard Consulting' track record of successfully completed and operational water supply and sanitation projects is the result of a flexible, dedicated and multi-disciplinary team approach to engineering problems.
Building and Structures Engineering
All Building and Industrial Engineering Projects in East Africa are coordinated by Howard Consulting Building & Structures Service Line in the Regional Office in Dar. This approach enables the company to maintain its quality control standards.
Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Engineering
The company offer a one stop shop to clients for all engineering services on building projects. Since its establishment, this service line has handled mechanical & electrical building services works covering projects ranging from Commercial, Industrial, institutional as well as housing developments.

Howard Consulting’s’ roots go back to London UK, wherein 1899, the original owners first set up their practice. Howard Humphreys first registered their local practice, in the 1930’s and since then more than 200 projects have been completed in the region. In the 1980’s Brown and Root acquired Howard Humphreys. At the end of 1999, Brown & Root transferred full ownership of the Kenyan practice to its Kenyan staff, who established Howard Humphreys (East Africa) Ltd (HHEA). In January 2007. Howard Humphreys (Tanzania) Ltd was acquired by HHEA from Brown & Root. The company changed its name to Howard Consulting in December2018 after Tanzanian shareholders decided to setup a local entity.
